In 2009, Alex started building what became SCG Global's platform, and spent 17 years growing it into an 8-product integrated enterprise suite and the engineering organization that delivered it.

The challenge was not just technical. Commercial vessels operate with intermittent connectivity, face Port State Control inspection, and cannot afford downtime. Every platform and team decision reflected those constraints: offline-first architecture, legal-grade audit trails, a Kafka-based integration backbone that decoupled 8 products before there were 8 products to decouple, and an independent Bureau Veritas audit Alex led the platform through — the outcome was BV certification for SCG's technical and crew management of bulk carriers.

The engineering challenge had a particular shape: building a team that could sustain delivery through three complete rotations without disruption, scaling from a single product to an 8-product platform, and directing a complete relocation of production from on-premise servers in Odesa to AWS and Hetzner during active wartime operations — with 100% operational continuity, no clients lost and no fleet operations lost. Since October 2022, Alex has led the team remotely from Fredericton.

For 17 years, Alex owned both the platform and the organization. He grew the in-house development team into a full IT department, then into SCG Softo LLC, a separate company within the group, and led it as Managing Director. The role titles changed — Lead Developer, Director of Engineering, Chief Technology Officer. The mandate — building systems and teams that deliver under real-world constraints — didn't.

The platform became SCG Global's competitive differentiator: the client portfolio grew from one major client to five, 7 vessels were added under SCG technical management, and new clients cited the software as a key reason for choosing SCG.

Over his final three years, Alex handed full system ownership to the team through documentation, pairing and delegated decisions — the platform continues to ship without a single point of dependency. In February 2026 he stepped back from the full-time CTO role to advise SCG's board on call, and since May 2026 has worked as Principal Consultant at Kosachov Consulting.

Lead Developer & Architect

Built Shipvisor™ PMS from a blank repository. Designed the canonical data model, backward-compatible API contract, and offline-first replication pattern that govern every vessel-side product to this day.

Expanded from single-product PMS to multi-domain platform. Defined cross-product schema standards, event patterns, and canonical models across Finvisor™, Crewisor™, Heatech, Invisor, E-SCMS. Led the platform through an independent Bureau Veritas audit — the outcome was BV certification for SCG's technical and crew management. Applied 316 database migrations to a live fleet with zero failures.
